T he news of the week, from Hollywood, is that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes (TomKat) are finished. Anyone surprised? It was one of those things that we were kind of just waiting for, don’t you think? A little too forced, a little too in your face, just something amiss in the viewing of the two of them together. You can’t help but remember when he was divorcing Nicole Kidman and there was all that noise about phone tapping and contracts. I have this idea that things are not what he is portraying to the public, what this is, I’m not sure.
I think things started unraveling for him when he decided to behave a little strangely on Oprah’s couch then followed it up with a confrontation with Matt Lauer regarding the use of prescription medicine. The public began a love/hate relationship with him when before these incidents he was Hollywood’s #1 leading man. Could be that he is aging, could be the lack of good scripts, I am not so sure, although I do believe a little more creativity is needed at the box office. C’mon remaking Footloose? Really?
He is, without a doubt, one of my favorite actors; how can you deny Jerry Maguire or A Few Good Men? Just brilliant. He is a good actor, but for his personal life, there are a lot of questions which really are none of our business, but what fun is that?
